My timing has never been the best. I purchased the apartment that I’ve lived in for the last year and half three months ago. Today I learned I might be in a border war. Yesterday, there were a number of trucks from a realty company parked in the back of [...] ... ( more)

This is, without a doubt, a difficult time to try and sell your home. With so many recent foreclosures, your house will be competing with a lot of other houses. Also, there are far fewer people being approved for a home [...] ... ( more)

The current state of the dollar has made international vacations much more difficult. 4 years ago, I went to London for vacation. I thought it was outrageously expensive then. 4 years ago the dollar was worth .56 British Pounds. Today the Dollar is worth .5 British pounds, a decline of [...] ... ( more)

Most Americans including myself assume that we’ll retire. We think of retirement as natural stage of our lives, not too different from puberty. Everyone goes through it we assume. The fact is retirement is a modern concept. Historically, and in most areas of the world people have worked up [...] ... ( more)

April and the 1nd Quarter of 2008 started off with bang. All three major U.S. Indexes were up well over 3%. My investments were up as well, just not quite as much. My portfolio given the hedges has a better relative performance when the market is down. However, I won’t complain too much about the [...] ... ( more)

I had my reservations around the bail out of Bear Stearns, especially after JP Morgan quintupled it’s offer to [...] ... ( more)

I just got an email from HSBC indicating that they were reducing their rate on online savings accounts from 3.55% to 3.05% to better reflect the drop in rates from the Fed. I’m not much of rate chaser, but given how low rates are getting I need to give some thought into making my [...] ... ( more)
